well mines sitting at 110mb atm, and i just wait for it to save, a tv next to you is always a good thing, or some mags, they all help.
but if you want to have smallers file sizes look into xref, it basicly take the mesh info from other max file and use them in the file your working from
or if you have the same object repeated, look into proxis
