Peter has a point. The problem with Mercedes is that they don't make sportscars. They make GTs. There's a HUGE difference and it's one you notice when you throw an AMG at a track. Merc V8s tend to create enough torque to pull tarmac right out from under the tires.

Now, Aston Martin make some great GTs. They make supercars with seats like your living room sofa and all the kit you'd want in a luxury GT. But they handle. The DB9 is an incredibly beautiful, amazingly sure-footed and exceptionally comfortable supercar.

If they were to mix it'd mean AM might see some quicker cars, but sharing paltforms would cause me some concern. They're just re-entering the market as a stable company after years of Ford abusing them. It'd be sad to see their cars lose their edge because the chassies can't contain the torque levels being put out by those huge, supercharged Merc V8s.
