Problem in Rhino is, you can`t see the step of progress during Rhino is working on a command . You don`t know how long it takes till ending the process, means, did Rhino still work or is Rhino allready break down ?!
Maybe it is the processor or the ram that pulls it down.
Some other Progs like ACAD show a rotating slash during processing so you can see the progress of work.

That's true. Rhino just show the "busy" mouse pointer (ie: hourglass) and you have no other clue on what is going on. Fortunately, pressing scape key stops almost any command/operation cleanly.
In the case of the Bend operation, it should not take much time, if geometry to be bended is set to rigid (if not, it may take some time if geometry to bend if somewhat complex or "dense").
