u could put a glowing sphere.. whith high intensity inside lets say a red glass.. and put around it a half circle chrome shape.. and just simple turn the half circle chrome shape around the glowing sphere.. and u'll have a police light..

Ok now lets say I did this, how do I enable that it flashes (you know at every ,for example, 3 seconds)to a different color?
Is that maxscript what gives the solution?
And if so, is there a tutorial avalible?

Just let them rotate, as they would do in real life too..

to flash u simple put the original position of the chrome semi circle in frame one.. then move the slider to frame 100, and rotate the semi circle lets say 720 degrees.. put the key in the fram.. and play the animation.. u'll notice that over those 100 frames ur light will flash twice
to flash more u simply let the thing rotate more degrees over those 100 frames

hey.. u know what.. i ended up modeling a police light and did a quick animation.. now keep in mind i did this all super fast, and it does the job of explaining.. if i wanted it to look more like a police light.. well.. i'd need to come up with better materials.. this is quick.. but u get the idea

My biggest issue with lights that have been modeled out, is that as soon as you get that "light" inside there covered up by glass, it never seems to be able to shine through the glass properly, it always looks unrealistically underbright. Doesn't even look like a light in the end result :S
