Hey, can anyone point me out to an export tool from C4D to 3dsmax (using version 8.0) ? Thanks.

Hi there, I'm using Max 8 and the latest version of Cinema 4D. I'm trying to get the model out of C4D to Max, but I just can't get it imported prefectly into Max! I always get a few (2-4) small annoying Normal errors on the mesh...of all types of exports C4D offers only 2 can do the job, but both give out these small normal errors, one a bit less than the other tho, *.X & *.OBJ. Now what in the name of god should I do ? I'm totally out of options! (((((((((((

P.S., Max has some options in it's OBJ import which I think I got most right...but still could have missed something...it has something with the number of smoothing groups to use or something like that. Btw, I also use Deep Exploration to get .X into a Max file.

OBJ does work, but I get a few small normals errors everytime, never perfect. Thing is, I tried all the types of exports C4D offers and they all come out crap...I'm even using a translation program, Deep Exploration which doesn't help much. The only "good" exports I get are from the Direct3D format *.X and the OBJ export, but both come out with small normals errors that make my day so bad.

PITA? :\ You meant pitty maybe? Well anyway, if you do exactly the same, don't you end up with normal errors? Check the model carefully...the few things I didn't errors at all were wheel objects.

PITA = Pain in the ass. Surely 3ds has some sort of normals fixing like c4d does?

Yeah, but 3ds won't save the UVs after the model is textured so its useless.

OBJ. files always seem to get normal eras when you making high poly objects like wheels i thinks its cause its hard for it to process all the polys. I used to get the problem all the time when i was converting from rhinoceros to max so i could texture and render. But im sure if you look around the net you will find something on it somewhere or even a plugin.
