Headlight Glass

Hey guys I'm trying to get realism with the headlight I modeled. There must be a setting in the materials I used for the headlight with VRay that I didn't set correctly. For some reason the headlight has a blurry/grainy texture. The headlight glass is just a plane so it doesn't have actual thickness to it. Does the glass need to have thickness to look real? Here is the image:

yes, i think you need the thickness, because of the index of refraction...im not an expert but im almost sure about this...

Yes, I did at a bumpmap to the headlight glass. But it's solid black with 3 white lines running through it...that's how I got the lines on the glass. Is there any reason why it would produce grainyness like that?

isn't the grainy-es cause by the reflection slot maybe? I toughed that the lower the value the grainy-er the reflections became.. Try increasing the value.... I think :?

What I do for glass is:
1. Get a VrayMat
2. Make the "Refraction" color to, depending on what glass it. white = completely clear and black = can't see through.
3. Here, you need to do some test renders and see how to change the gloss and reflections to what looks right.

Very simple material, but works great.

Hope that helps.

Thanks guys...I have tried a ton of different settings and I still get the grainy look. I'm beginning to wonder if there is something wrong with my version of VRay...

Do you have the subdiv in the materials turned up? I think it may be set to 10.. try changing it to 25.
Try doin the same with the chrome material.
