Introductions and seeking of some tutorials
Hello there.
My name is George but I log on as gefindlay. I am very new to the 3D modeling world and would like some tips in regards to modeling in solid forms and nurbs. I have AutoCAD which I'm planning on using for linework as well as 3D Studio Max 7 and 8 which I plan to use for the actual modeling procces. Final rendering is hoped to be done in Bryce which I also have. As with any project there is some amount of postwork to get things right for final presentation but I don't have the skills needed to use Photoshop which I also have in that capacity. Now that's out of the way I can get on with the business of seeking some tips. Mainly how to model a concept car from scratch. I'm talking no blueprints here so don't point at links with them. I don't want that. I just need tutorials on techniques used to manipulate lines solids and nurbs to create the complex forms found in car design and to create the interiors as well as the substrucrures (ie: the pillars and load bearing points to give my final product some semblance of mass and weight around three shaped cavities). Oh and don't forget the mechanicals (ie: brakes, suspension, axles and drivetrain). The engine and gearbox are a bit too complex for actual modeling as the innards are not usually seen and can therefore be broken down into their most basic forms but a bit of form modeling wouldn't hurt the eye so to speak. The wheels I can manage but I will need some help with the tyre tread as these will require some precise modeling to appear realistic. Well that's all for now. Hope I'm not too demanding a newbie and I apologise if I am. I'm available for email if anyone wants to do so. Just check my profile or if not just use gefindlay@yahoo.com or george.findlay3@btinternet.com (whichever works for you). Last edited by gefindlay : 09-15-2006 at 11:13 PM. |
