Sharp corners with Meshsmooth

I was wondering, how are you getting these sharp corners around lights or windows while using meshsmooth? Are you just keeping objects separately or chamfering vertices?

I had some problem with that when I was using meshsmooth.

Chamfer with a small value. Also consider using turbosmooth. Although it do not have as much options as meshsmooth, it seems to handle better the smoothing...

I've got another question, cos' after chamfering it creates 5 side polygon, then how do you deal with that and you have no bumps?

try to weld vertices so that you get 4 edges

Yeah, I use turbosmooth. If you want a sharpe edge, just use chamfer and weld the 3side polies. When you use chamfer twice, youll get an even more sharp edge and better normals.

Chamfering in Max is a handy feature, if used correctly. Max stores the last value so it's easy to chamfer all panels on a row. I usually chamfer at the lowest index, and never allow chamfering to go round the corner. On a panel each side must be chamfered separately (or the opposed sides at once), this will do the trick. Another good trick is to chamfer at zero index, and if you want to detach something simply choose the "Open" option.
