hmm y wud u wanna shift drag vertices? do u wanna create more geometry? for that u use shift drag on edges.. shift dragging vertices is for rare occasions u want to use the create polygon tool where there is no verticies.. but even then shift drag on edges is better..

dont hold shift,

shift makes a copy of what you ahve selected, thats why you are getting those new verts.

to move just click the move gizmo, and drag.

If you can turn, your not going FAST enough

If you want to create a new vertex, do not shift drag it as it will may not belong to any geometry. They will be part of the poly but may not be into an edge or a face, it will be just floating there. Use the Insert Vertex on the Edge sub-object tools of the poly

thank you .. bt in some box modelling tutz it says to shift drag vertices so it adds another section like extruding it... then again i can just go into polygon and extrude it...

yeah man if you shift drag vertices you get isolated vertices which do nothing, as said above shift drag edges if you want to add more
