Blueprint Problem

Hi,

I am trying to set these blueprints up in 3ds max, and they look like crap. I have the viewport config set up with the max tex size 1024 and 512 ,and match as close slected, but no love. I tried saving them as jpeg, tiff, and leaving as png. Even the stock image inserted on a plane of equal size looks awefull. I've attached the image from the-blueprints.com.

Can anyone have a look and see. Is it in the way the print was made? Does it need to be reduced in size, then cut up in photoshop? They are so clear and detailed, and line up great, i hate to not be able to use them. Thanks in advance!

I've already tried all the suggestions i could find here, including that one. I even went back and installed max 8 to see if max 9 had a problem. Nope same messy prints.

Could it be that the image needs to be scaled down closer to max 1024 by 512?

try scaling the image down, the lines are so thin (1 pixel) that they get lost when max tries to compress them down to a useable size

well i tried the scaling down, no luck. Perhaps i'm doing it wrong. All im doing is re-sizing it in PS, and saving it out to another file. Are there any other things i can try? Thanks!
