Max 2008

i had a little chance to play around with max 2008 at work, did have much time to do much, i wasnt met to be using it, but from wat i saw, the speed incress they where talking about, they werent crapen you.

you can see by the picture attached, its more than double the frame rate, both max 8 and 2008 site at the frame rate when moving as well.

how ever there was one thing to was pissing me off to no end, ALT to rotate in veiwport, its just werid, you cant have the mouse click like when you paning, and go to rotate with the mouse still click in , i find this very anoying, also to the point i dont want 2008.

ok say you are panning around your object, and you decied to rotate around your object so you it ALT without lifting the the right mouse botton, it always goes to the file menu.

yeha sorry middle mouse botton, sometime it when i hit alt it will the file, veiw pull down menu's

you want to know something werid, i was just play around in it then, and it is only happening when i load a max 8 file.

the other thing that i dont like is that they have taken out, when you are copying something, you can hit shift and then click one of the move arrows and its creates a new object in the same place, you have to accualy move them.

If you can turn, your not going FAST enough

yeah, i noticed that one, the copy thing is kind of annoying

although theyve fixed a chamfer bug that made max 9 crash that annoyed me a hell of alot more

Hi all,

I think I have spoted a weird issue too: vertex weld actually don't do anything. If you want to weld a couple of vertexes you have to go to the small dialog box and play with the weld threshold to get them welded (not cross-like icon and drop on target vertex, and NOTHING happens when just pressing the "weld" button")

I work with max 8, and have the trial max 2008, so maybe it is a side by side installation issue.

Regards, Joe.

APPARENTLY... You can have real-time shadows in 2008... I'd rather real-time AO, but I'm not complaining

yes, the realtime shadows and other viewport rendering goodness, plus the crazy rediculous speed max 2008 had were the two greatest selling points for me.

does anyone know a way to over rid the short cut in max where ALT takes you the the pull down menus?

i think its a windows option, so i dont know if you could do it in max.
