Audi Modelling Help - Inc. Files
Hello,
Im new here and have only just started 3d modelling. Im using 3dsmax 2008. I am modelling the Audi RS4 Avant, but im having little success being new to it, so i could use someones help with the front of the car that i just cant seem to get correct, the front is very complex, with al sorts of curves and bends blending in with one another. I've been on and off it for days now and its driving me mad! Im seriously considering just walking away from it. Attached are some pics of the work so far: ( I know they're awful before you say haha) As you can see there are more than a few problems, and im absolutely stumped with how to fix it, i've seen a few versions of this car on here so was hoping somebody could spare me a few mins to have a quick go? Included in the rar are the max file, blueprints, and 2 reference pics: MegaUpload - Audi RS4 Avant Files Thanks Guys Last edited by rybrx7 : 11-28-2007 at 10:41 AM. |

Here you go, i know more detail needs adding on the arches etc but i was trying to get the front right first
I was trying to follow the Audi A3 tutorial from 3D-Palace but adapt it to mine, so far its not going too well Last edited by rybrx7 : 11-28-2007 at 01:18 PM. |

Yes there is som bumps. You should focus on modeling the main lines of the body first : draw every edge one by one and take care of needed chamfer if any. Once it's done, start to equilibrate your vertices to make them facing : it will be easier to close your mesh. Eventually make some faces on the (almost) flat panels.

take a look at your smoothing groups in poly edit.
A lot of times the polys end up with different smoothing groups turned on. even though you might not have the smoothing group option checked in turbo smooth, they don't mesh right unless they are all the same. Once you have them all the same, you can go back and smooth by smoothing groups. Try using a blend of groups of the adjacent panels at the chamfers. I only use tri's at the edges of panels where you would want a smooth rouned corner. Jerry |
