Question Viewport Clipping

Hey guys,

I'm working on a scene in MAX, and I'm getting terrible viewport clipping. Now I know scale has to do with it in most cases, however I'm working TO scale in this scene, and in metres.

Does anyone know how to stop this??

...if youre modelling a car to scale, and the system units are set to metres, then your car will only be around 3-4 units big...thats going to be *tiny* by the units standard, which is when the clipping problem happens...

...then what am I best to set the scene up with? Are you able to take a quick screen-grab of your units set-up panel for me chief?

It's weird 'cos I've worked with these same settings before... Something's gone awry I think.

heres what i always have it set at...if you wanted to work on something smaller and to scale (like a bottle or something), youd set it to mm, and if you wanted to work on something larger and to scale (architecture guff), then youd want metres etc. etc.

i think youll have to hit reset, change the system unit to cm, then reopen the car file and select "scale to system units" in the box that should pop up

Sweet man, that one worked.

I haven't really worried about changing any of those settings before. Metres usually worked for me, but this time it just seemed to be toying with me.

In future, I'll do cars in cm... Thanks man, owe you one!!

no probs...im sure other people run into this one too

also, if youre going to merge it into a scene with larger units, youll want the "respect system units in files" box checked, so if you import a car into a scene set to metres itll be scaled to the right size...if you dont, you just get a really really big car
