Max Pivot problem

Alright guys, everytime I go to, affect pivot only in the heirarchy panel, I cant move the pivot, like the numbers for the co-ordinate reference change, but the gizmo doesnt, neither does the heirarchy, so I cant like say move the pivot so I can open a door for instance, any help would be a appreciated,
