Program run out of memory problem

The question is: How to impreove max 2008 performance to make mental ray render more than one car in one scene? I wanted to render two cars in one render and max keeps on crashing saying Program run out of Memory. The scene has a little over 800k polys and some parts are turbosmoothed to iterations 2 for rendering. I have T7250 processor , thats Core 2 Duo 2Ghz each Core and 2Gb Ram...is that too low or is there a way to make max use more of the hardware somehow? I will be very gratfull for help...if i dont find solution to this problem 3 days of animating stuff will go to waste so I ask very very much: HELP ME!!!!!!!!

If God would prefer front wheel drive...we would bo walkin' on hands...

....not that I know of...I never rendered with such level of detail...I guess what you can do is tinker with the preference settings and "increase" the memory usage.

Or open max user reference to see if there're articles that address rendering.

Good luck

2Gb of Ram should be suffiecient, I managed to do some of that hoigh poly with 1Gb, I f you have textures, limit the size on them, and make them all jpeg.

Problem solved peterliang hit the jackpot! I found earlier, that option and was going to post the solution but since peterliang already did that i just add were to look for it if someone has simmilar problem.
In mental ray settings (after pressing F10) there's Processing and there the memory usage which was deflaut 650MB i changed it to 1024MB and also marked the Conserving memory check box. It helped Stey tuned for the final render of the new animation. Thx for the input all
