Having a Texture baking problem :(

Ok fix this up, (had a meeting to get to so I had to rush this)

What you see in the attachment is of course screwed up, but not in the way its nice looking in the center, bad at the bottom and mixed at the top, no thats just where I didnt let previous run throughs finish. You see I mapped the car the first time and it went splendid BUT now something new is happening. It keeps giving me crappy quality. I have it set up like always, Ive switched materials to see if that could be doing it. I even merged a working map with a bad, all tha did was make the working map look bad (ie the red part) You can see where in the center its nice and smooth as it should be ( all thought a tad bright) Thats what I want, but when I merged the body with the working body it just made both worse ( ie the red adn black at the top) The Bottom is just all out bad and what I want to be good.

Ive got it setup as usual, a big 3d box inverted and spread out at the top, with an omni and skylight above it. I have light tracer set up at 500 rays /samples. So you see the lighting is all the same in the 3 versions you see below. The black areas where its black at the bottom but not at the top ( ie the top fo the car ) I konw what that is from, its from flipped mapping (or so I assume) But all I want is to get back my smooth results again. I hope that covers all the boundaries of my problem

OK... I think I might have solved the problem on my own.. well I did solve it I just hope I remember what I did that solved it

What I think that solved it was I used reset xform. This feature does a number of things none of which I can remember, I hope that this was the thing I did to fix this problem, and hopefully if it is then my problem can help others who have run into this. But anyhow I'll keep this thread up to date if its not the fix.

Reseting X-Form solves lots of problems, I use it many times.

Indeed it does, I dont remember who told me about it... but I remembered it from years ago so I used it again as a last resort and it is indeed the fix for this problem. Which is why I'm not going to delete this thread, Perhaps it can help some other person in the future.

3DS Max is so weird. It has all these little features to get rid of tiny problems.. Why not have those problems not there in the first place?

LightWave rules!

Glad to hear it's solved though
