Question Surfaces Not Keeping Planar

Hey guys,

I've got a boggle... Lately on my PC at work, I've been having issues with surfaces not staying planar when I extrude, align, ect. What I mean by this is I'll be working away building a building or something, go to a side or top view and find that walls aren't perfectly straight, not lining up by a cm or two.

I've Reset X-Form, I'm working with a Units scale of Meters, and I have no idea why it's been doing this.

It's only doing it on my PC at work in MAX, and not at home.

Thanking you in advance,

if you are working on perspective i would make sure snap points isnt on

cause this will snap to grib points so it might look right in perspective but not in plan veiws.

you also get the same problem with the move/scale/rotate setting if you have the reference coordiantion system set to screen or something else than view. btw those setting are just next to the move/scale/rotate tools up the top, its a pull down thing

you can see on the attached file that its set on screen and the move gizmo is all over the place

thats all i can come up with atm

but hey its 4pm i would just clock of work and go home

Trust me, I'd give anything to be home with GTA IV right now instead of work I know exactly what you're talking about and that's not the problem I've got...

The verts of, for example a building I'm working on, from the top view the walls are out out by a fraction, even though I've just edge extruded them straight up. I've come back later to find that they're slightly out again.

It's weird ay... Anyways mate, thanks for your help. If anyone else has a clue, lemme know!!

mabye someone is screwing with you at work

it does sound really werid.

if you extured them i would make sure the extured setting were right (sure you ahve down that), and make sure the parts i was extured from where all on the same level (if you need them to be) and make sure each wall at the bottom was flat, if they where not on the same level that could make the problem you have.

that about it, i havent used max in a while now so i am a bit rusty.

i clock of work at 3:30 today when ever your boss asked you work late and you ahve nothing to do i always stay back, becase come friday, i use it as a bargining tool to get off early
