Mac os X + 3ds max

Well last week my desktop pc decided it had enough of me and kinda blew up. Insted of fixing a 3-4 year old machine i decided i want a mac!! So i checked on the net, all my programs like adobe photoshop, lightroom (could use adobe apeture), adobe illustrator among all the other programs I use on a regular basis.

BUT.. Oh no!! 3ds max and apple mac arent compatible together (unless i partition the hdd to run os X and XP.... that defeats the object of getting a mac.

Anyone here ever tried running a mac with 3ds max? Or does anyone know of a patch, fix or weather discreet will come out with a version compatible?

Thanks for reading

James

you cant run 3dsmax in OSX, and autodesk reckons there "isnt a market" or something as the reason why they havent done a mac version...ive been using 3dsmax and bootcamp for the past year though

I can't see autodesk bringing out a mac version like said by The IC.. but, you can use boot camp which is simple and easy to set up. Also, i'm not sure if this works however, you could use VMWare or Parallels to work it seamlessly with Leopard

I'm thinking about giving it a try sometime soon, I'll keep you posted on how it goes!

I had an idea.... If i bought a mac and an external HDD could i run the partition, bootmap/parralels on the hdd and only plug it into the machine when I want to use 3ds max or mabye a game that doesnt run with th mac operating system? Could this work? would it be a good idea?

no...bootcamp isnt an emulator, it just lets you boot between OSX and windows (or linux) like a dualboot PC

EDIT: this was a reply to the post you just deleted
