Tire Tread help in blender?

hey there guys.. am trying to get the tire tread done for my r8 model, but i think ive hit a bit of a snag here.. i cant seem to get it to work properly...

ive tried the tut on the blender art issue #8 mag, and that doesnt come out right... is there a better way of doing the tread? and if so, how? and where can i find a tutorial?

I came up with a decent technique that used the array modifier followed by the warp tool, if you want I can write a short tut.

A similar technique is used in this tutorial, The Complete Guide to Modeling Tires in Blender. You could try that as well.

I was working on this last night... you're welcome to the .blend if you want it as an example or to use in your project.

I'm the author of the tutorial published in BlenderArt mag #8, you can find it on my website.

Feel free to ask any specific question if you want to keep trying this one.

The other tutorial is indeed good as well. But I'm a mathematical freak so it was easier for me to do some math instead of modeling the thread flat then curving it.

I guess everyone will choose its own way.

could you post the blend file nitronic, and which method do you use...if its not those 2, could you write a short tut... i didnt seem to get a very good tire using the curve, array, tut that nitronic posted up...

oh and tom, i didnt realise you were the author... it works as a tutorial, but it seemed to be very mathematical, and very odd to follow... ill check the one out on your website, and see if it was just the structure of that mag...
oh, and this is what i got with nitronics link....
in Blender Internal Engine, it seems semi fine, but when i render in Indigo, it seems to have alot more odd mesh... i didnt leave it rendering very long, hence the noise.... there wasnt much point.. i could see the imperfections... what is this caused by?

Once again, SMCars notification by email system is flawed. I'll get the .blend up ASAP and a tut up shortly after. Is there a specific tyre tread you want to model, if so I will try and write the tut using that as the example.

Tyre .blend: Tyres - Toyo Proxy T1-R.blend

I'm not sure about the TDI and V10, but the regular R8 uses 235/35 Z R19 Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Rear tires are probably 245 or so.
