2.. 3 years?
i like the new avenger, the real car atleast, its kinda cool i guess every company wanted to convert over, no idea why but something caused them all to turn over i still dont understand this weird front bumper spoiler thing, it looks like it will cause more drag than help with those fenders like that ![]() Team STi "uh oh, yep i'm flyin through the air, this is not good" |

To not only to help create downfores but also to force more air in to the brakes and engine bay.
I'm still iffy on the design, there was nothing wrong with the current deisgn. The car is safe. Ask waltip when he ripped his car in half and the busch driver (forgot his name) when he literally steped out of his car and walked away. The deaths in nascar was drivers fault, well in Dale seniors cases anyway. Well see what happens with this design at bristol this year. garentuee that after the race no body with have a front splitter left. But like my name Tony was saying, its the uglest car yet. |

I'm sure the decisions for those vehicles were aerodynamics-based more than anything else. the charger doesn't seem quite as aerodynamic as the avenger, same case as the impala/montecarlo as well.
they gotta compete with the camry somehow, after all (with such a rounded front end, and a low profile "Headlight ridge", the camry seems like a much more aerodynamic vehicle than the charger is... plus the impala seems fairly rounded off now, much like the taurus. There was absolutely no reason as far as I'm concerned to switch from the taurus though. Probably just a marketing scheme to get the fusion more well-known. unless the changes happened due to regulations not being met like dimensions or something ![]()

just reading on howstuffworks, nascar bodyshells are so strictly regulated that theyre almost the same on every car, the only bit thats different is the shape of the hole they get to cut out on the front...the only other part that looks vaguely like the road car is the headlight stickers they put on it
changing what "type" of car it is is probably just for some marketing reason and from the reports ive read, the new aero kit is supposed to do two things: be more stable, and put even more emphasis on drafting (hence the brick wall-like front bumper) |

my dad was watching the nascar "news" i guess you could call it last night, the whole organization telling about the new points system, and the billions of safety features that are comming in this year; thats probably why they all look the same is because they all have the same safety stuff inside (foam absorbing doors for example) and because its cheaper to do it when they are all the same
@dmanero: well.. thats what i figured too.... except the only problem is there are no holes! ![]() Team STi "uh oh, yep i'm flyin through the air, this is not good" |

XCNuse - The hole would appear depending ont he track that they are racing. For example if they racing at Daytona or Telladaga the car would have very little opening in the front not to create drag where as at bristol or slower tracks you'll see large holes specially in the lower portion of the body.
