What period of time had the best cars in your opinion?

So the folks I talk to in the IRC channel (If you didn't know about it, it's discussed here) seem to have quite a different view of what cars looked the best ... so how about everyone here giving their input?

Personally? I'm very much into the 80's and 90's everyday American cars. Dodge Aries, Neon, Intrepid ... Chevrolet Celebrity, Beretta, Corsica, Lumina, Monte Carlo, Malibu, Camaro... Buick Century, Riviera ... Ford Taurus, Tempo, Thunderbird, Mustang... Saturn S-Series.

I like a lot of Japanese and European cars as well from that era... but not as many as American cars...

So what's your taste in car eras? (can be both looks-based or technology based, or better yet, both)

*edit*

1900 to about the 1940's

even tho there are not as many cars being produced, i still think its the best time for cars. Manly cause we still use a LOT technology from that time, basicly all the mechnical stuff hasnt changed.

DOHC where used in 1919

even the wankel was develeped in the 1950's,

fuel inject was even being develop before this 1889

the turbocharger was patented in 1905 and the superchager was patened in 1885

indepenet suspesion, frames, nothing has changed that much

the only real changed from 1950 onwareds, was electrical, and most of that was for our own comfort, and thats just one more thing to brake

in my mind its the best part in the history of the car

and i do like the look of those old cars as well

If you can turn, your not going FAST enough

My favorite cars are from early 60's to early 70's so I guess that'd be my choice and also some nice european cars (and few american) were made at 80's. 90's and later, cars became more and more boring. Of course there are some exceptions

Same with the random food question you threw out there, I'm sticking with the Yankees again with their cars. 1950s, all the way up to today... Fantastic designs. Big, beefy, and no sympathy for world oil shortages. I'm not really biased on era, but more on the looks of a car.

No doubt, the H2 Hummer is my favourite Yank-tank. But their Dodges, their Cadillacs, they're just really beautiful cars.

Nothing says road-owning like a car that actually does take up the whole road!!

After American cars, it's gotta be modern Italian supercars. Ahhh... life at 400kph

Mostly the 1990's for me, though I do like quite a few cars from the 2000's, along with 1980's, 1970's, 1960's, and even a few from the 1950's lol
For the most part it is really how amusing the car is, and that itself usually comes from how well they performed at the time of the car's inception. I also like a few of the pre-WWII Grand Prix cars, such as the Auto Union and Mercedes-Benz streamliners.

I just love Pre WW2 cars , Duesenburg, Horch, Packard, etc etc.

Not that of a fan of this decade's cars...
