Have you seen this 1950s Jaguar mock-up?

I came across this picture a while back on the web. I'd like to know more about the mock-up. Were other views of it published? I'd like to see the other end.

I like this design better than the Mark 1 and Mark 2 saloons that made it to production.

I'd like to something similar in 1:24, based on Tamiya's Mk 2 saloon kit.

That is indeed sexy. Hopefully you will get a bite and someone will know more about it or can lead you to more on your trail. I do like it though .

I did some snooping around.. and someone also was wanting to do something like you were... except they wanted to make a REAL running version. But anyhow the same concerns and questions as you. This guy responded and had a rear shot along with some other info.. however he removed the picture link. You want a rear shot, you might try emailing him. Because the book that he has that has the pictures is over 100 dollars.

Paul Skilletter's "Jaguar Saloon Cars" has that same picture, plus a view from
the rear.

I've put them online for you at:
http://picasaweb.google.com/diego.mo...oorCoupeMockUp

not having a scanner, this is the best I could do with my camera and please let
me know when you downloaded them, so I can remove them... I took them at the
highest resolution I could (2048x1536) and you need to click on the "Download
Photo" link to get them at THAT resolution...

the captions says:

"This very sleek two-door coupe design was played with by Jaguar in the early
fifties - styling lent heavily on the 2.4 saloon, but it may have been intended
for the XK sports car chassis (note the 16-inch wheels)"

I quite frankly love the idea of building a vehicle that didn't make into
production (I am toying with that idea as well, although it would be a
motorcycle, the prototype of the 1972 Ducati 750GT), but if the caption is
right, you may be facing a bigger project than originally thought... indeed the
wheelbase seems shorter than the 108" of the MkI, more like the 102" of the
XK120...

good luck and let us know if you find more pics!

cheers

diego

Thanks for the lead. It appears that person wasn't planning on keeping those images in his album for long.

A full-size version would be cool, though the model I'm planning will be challenging enough for me.

I'd love to see the Jaguar books, though they appear to be out of budget range...
