Yeah you should be able to take the turbos off and put some extractors on it and change the air intake, but you'll have to tune it back down for not having the turbos on it.

isnt there like a 100ps difference between RZ and SZ?

and wouldnt turbo and nonturbo cars have different pistons, cams, and injectors among other bits? it's probably easy to go yank a non-turbo intake and exhaust manifold and ecu.. but it probably wouldnt run all that well.. seems like it would be running rich with the turbo parts under the NA ecu.. na cams seem like they'd have a longer duration and more agressive angles, higher-compression pistons, and smaller injectors which all probably lead to a leaner condition than would be found with turbo injectors that are expecting a ton of air from boost, low-comp pistons that are expecting a large volume of air, and fatter injectors for more air from boost.. with the NA bits bolted on, your car will probably be slower than a normal NA.. but it would probably run atleast..

remember kids, if you're JDM, your str33t kr3dz go through the roof! bright JDM paint, JDM carbon fiber parts, hood-rise kits, JDM stickers, and JDM black-face wheels all add points! make sure you always remind everyone how JDM you and your car are too. chicks dig it. and dont forget to drift! because you know... drift is JDM tyte, y0! and you know JDM is a way of life and stuff.. atleast until the next fad comes along.. JDM 4 lyfe, y0!

man those laws suck ass, although its probs for greater safety and all that. erm I agree with .59 reverse, you'd need to buy all non-turbo requiring parts in oreder for smooth running...seems to me its gonna cost you a bit to detune the car.

I would not do that. Itll cost quite a bit and be a pain to downgrade. Just buy a N/A Supra and let that Twin Turbo remin a sexy Twin.

+1 to that, the cost of the car, plus the cost of downgrading it's performance makes no sense... it isn't going to be a practical or worthwhile investment.

thanks for the extra info guys, i told my mate im not buying it from him, im gonna try import an SZ from Japan seems to be cheap from there and most of the SZ Supras from there are under 100,000 kms which will help keep my registration and roadworthy down =D

if anyone (dont think itd matter what country) has imported a car from japan can you tell me the process you had to go through and how trustworthy u think it is?

and also does anyone know where it is possible to purchase the ABFLUG Widebody Zefir kit? and how much they are?

thanks in advance

P.S. i dont get what you mean T-Shine =/

Dark_Knight, importing a car from Japan to Australia isn't a cheap process due to Australia's Import Tax. That's why cars already over in Australia sell for a lot more than they're bought for over in Japan.

My oppinion would be to look into Private Sellers of these cars. What I'd advise you to be careful of though is, because these are the sorts of vehicles that are associated with racing and general hooning, they might look pretty on the outside but the mechanics are falling to bits and are at their ends.

Good luck with your car shopping though, it's always fun

what if i get it done by a company? they add the cost of everything else onto the price of the car, eg..

car - $4800 (in japan)
compliance - $2000
customs duties/taxes - 2000
service fee - $1000 (they actually get their agents in japan to check the mechanical and physical detail of the car to make sure its not stuffed up and stuff)
roadworth/registration - 1500$

its still ends up being a cheaper buy i reckon (approximately 11,300), comparitively to one i can get locally (bone stock) for 15000-16000

i mean im looking to buy a COMPLETELY BONE STOCK supra lol, with the new laws in australia im not allowed to have ANY in-engine modifications or anything over a V6

it'll be quite sad taking off the turbo's, but then again, you can probably sell them for a pretty nice price to the N/A guys, and make some of the money back.

besides, taking off the turbo is pretty simple, its the tuning part that requires some extensive attention

well ive saved up a fair bit, ive been saving since i was 15 for one lol

as soon as i was legally allowed to get a job it was the first thing i did

80% of what i made a week went into savings for the car, ive got 2 jobs right now, one for weekdays and one on weekends and ive managed to make around $7500 since my first job.

dad told me he'd pitch in a bit so i can get a car, and he knew i wanted a supra so hes willing to pay up the difference
