Real Life Carmageddon Car Challenge

I'm sure some of you would have played Carmageddon in the past. I know I have. For those that dont know the idea of the game was to race......but there was a lack of rules. You could either win be destroying your opponent or you could actually race to the end (but who actually did that....boring). Each car was either designed with a dangerous weapon attached to it or just had enough weight or speed to do serious damage to their opponents car.

My idea is to design our own Real Life Carmageddon Cars.


The rules:
* One main weapon theme/system (a large set of deadly blades or a giant drill on the front, but not both). Although I think we best allow small spikes and details as well as a main weapon, else the cars with look a bit basic.....We want the cars to look MEAN!!!!

* No projectile weapons to stick to the original Carmageddon games (guns, canons etc) the device must be attached to the car.

* Must be based on a real life car/van/lorry cab. No construction/industrial vehicles.

* No aircraft or boats.

* Needs to have some form of propulsion (not necessarily wheels, maybe tracks, a jet etc)


Technical rules:
* Poly Count - As high as your imagination.

* Must be done from scratch after the start date.

* A quick extra point, I think we'd best say what car our death machine is based on before we start too


Start Date - 30th September 2007
End Date - 31st January 2008

I'm going to wait a day or so before I announce a start date to see how much more interest there is here.

Once we start, post your progress in the wip forum with something like -Carma Car Challenge- at the start then what you've called your car. I mean every device of mass destruction needs a name , then what car its based on.

E.G: -Carma Car Challenge- "Killertron" BMW M3 E30

Once we've started and people start making their posts, I'll edit the first post on this thread and list the competitors, car name, car base, and most importantly....your weapon (once I know that is, you can keep your weapon a secret until you want )

ok, I think we have all the interest we're going to get.

I was thinking the start date could be end of the week, and we should give it up until the end of January, seeing as over the end of December people are going to be busy so that cuts a couple of weeks out.

Start Date: 30th September?
End Date: 31st January?
