thanks for the response guys,

I'm not a fan of the tiled look either but i'm really quite **** at backgrounds and rendering (i bet you'd never have known!)

How in the hell do you make a neutral background like the pros?

The lights aren't textures, they're actually proper 3d models of the glass of the headlamps and indicators on the golf, with realistic reflectors etc. (Me and my freinds took a few golfs apart when we were younger) tho i doubt the refraction is correct.

BTW the headlamps and BBS rims (all made by me) are free to download if you can tell me how to send them to you. (zipped .max files only)

can anyone offer any tips on how to improve my rendering? Also, there are more renders of this car, it's got a fully accurate (ish) interior. This puppy is 600,000 polygons! though only 270,000 without the rims.

I'm also working on a Ferrari 288 GTO...

Hey this mkI rules! I'm a huge fan of the mkI and mkII Golfs myself.
The lights look gr8! The model looks like it's made from plastic, BUT I really
like it! Also can you tell me where I can find a nice big blueprint of the mkI
Golf? There's 1 or 2 files on the forum, but they are at a ridiculous size, thus
impractical.
I can't wait to see your 288 GTO

Nice!

Hey,

am new around here, I joined the forums to get blueprints...anyway, i've been looking at several of the renders in this forum and this is by far the best so far. amazing work on the lights and the alloys look superb. i dont actually do 3d modelling yet but want to get into it.

I love the old school look, i wanted a blueprint of an old Polo C (1980's) looks so much like this. if you could tell em where to get one.......

anyway, just wanted to say that is one sweet model!!!!!!!!!!
