Where are the blueprints?

As a brand new member of the forum I'm a little perplexed. I'm an engineer designing a chassis who is looking for technical drawings (commonly referred to as blueprints) of a Ford 9" rear-end/differential.
I've found many lovely pictures of cars but no blueprints (or anything that can be remotely considered such).

Without trying to sound ignorant of eveyone's obvious effort, am I missing something?

Thanks.

I think you can consider this as a blueprint?

Without getting into semantics; while a lovely layout drawing of a 917, that doesn't qualify as a blueprint in the specific manner of failing to have mechanical detail with which to manufacture a specific component or sub-assembly, its merely describing the general relationship between undefined components.

Where are the blueprints?

ERGOLARRY : the word blueprint no longer means what it used to, it has become such a common term now. (ie.) when someone says they are going to xerox something or they are going to use a weedeater to trim there yard. If this site had what you define as the blueprints you want then I dont think we would be doing it for free. We call our site SMCars, and say Blueprints forum and other becuase its a lot faster than saying. "Outline Drawing of Cars and other, Schematic views of cars and other... it just doesnt work. Not to be rude but I think just by viewing a couple images we have here, of what we call "blueprints" you would see and understand this is not the type of site you are looking for.

Thanks Captain Obvious, can I suggest instead "Modelling Forum"? Certainly I was able to quickly ascertain that yours is a hobby site for pretty pictures. The mis-label of your efforts does nothing but cheapen the result. I was simply curious if the intention was there to actually facilitate grass-roots design and engineering, or merely to provide a home for scanned maps of where to put stickers on your models.

Where are the blueprints?

sorry but you expect to find a site with detailed technical drawings showing every nut and bolt?

pretty much impossible, companies would never make such drawings public for fear of other companies stealing ideas.

this site is for general blueprints, not technical schematics.

yeah, great idea World's Only Hope
that's what he deserves for calling Ice "Captain Obvious" !!

Leisure Suit ERGOLARRY, this site is about car-references, which are called "blueprints" in modellers' areas. REAL blueprints hardly exist anymore, since nowadays, a lot is done by computers, robots, etc...
I understand that you are looking for "real" blueprints, but then you're not at the right place.

Also, change your attitude towards other members on this board, and be respectful.

Where are the blueprints?

Quote:
blue·print (blū'prĭnt')
n.

1. A contact print of a drawing or other image rendered as white lines on a blue background, especially such a print of an architectural plan or technical drawing. Also called cyanotype.
2. A mechanical drawing produced by any of various similar photographic processes, such as one that creates blue or black lines on a white background.
3. A detailed plan of action. See synonyms at plan.
4. A model or prototype.

tr.v., -print·ed, -print·ing, -prints.

1. To make a blueprint of.
2. To lay a plan for.
Look at the way you want to, but this qualifies the so called drawings here as blueprints.

Where are the blueprints?

Thank you for the dictionary.com reference. Clearly I've struck a nerve. What I'm looking for is a technical drawing on a generic component (first manufactured by Ford in 1957 discontinued by 1975, now in the public domain and manufactured by countless others) to use as reference in a private design. I'm not looking for a machining tolerance sheet for the bearing races here. As a professional who designs in Catia, ProE, and Solidworks, (no robots are currently designing that I know of) actual items that actually get manufactured in the real world, its frustrating to see people not in the industry (or any industry I would stretch) calling a "picture" a blueprint. As for "real-blueprints hardly existing anymore", I would assume you're referring to an actual cyanotype, I certainly don't make presentations to General Motors with a "picture", hoping they'll notice the wonderful texture I've employed on a handle.

Heaven help you when you come to me for a job with your design portfolio.
