can cars have taililghts other than red

i just was thinking about how when i get older what i wanted to do with the car i get (upgrades etc.) and was thinking about putting in taillights that have a blue light instead of red (i dont know if the color is the result of the cover over the light or the light itself) and was wondering, is it even legal to have a tailight that is not red or is it just that no cars ever have it?

Well I'm pretty sure red is requred in the US or atleast in my part of the US. And I know for a fact that blue in any part of the lights of the car is prohibited since blue is reserved for Police cars. Ive heard many of stories of people getting pulled over because of having blue headlights ( not HID either)

Depends on the state as to area of tail light needed. All states require RED, there are a few that allow a blue dot in the lens but it can be no more than 10% of the total area of the lens.

You can have clear lenses for the tailights, but the bulb itself needs to glow red or amber (orange, basically) for the indicators.

I saw a brand new Lexus where the wiring was screwed up and the break lights were orange and the turn signals were red. It looked pretty sweet, but no, you can't legally change the colors of the break lights.

yeah, saw a Golf yesterday.. that guy wanted to tune his ride, but connected the wrong wires... stupid dude
But yes, also in NL, it's illegal to have lights other than red. Front can also be yellow though

If the front is yellow both have to be yellow and the same shade. Yellow was originally used a lot in France if i remember correct.
It is illegal to have a white and a red one.

Those new halo headlights are screwy under a certain angle it looks blue ... makes me thinks the cops are after me ...again....

i dont mean to be rude or nething.....but how can u "wire" ur lights wrong....on cars, or atleast mine, the light itslef is white and the cover over the light is red so it makes it look red.........??
