3DsMax wont let me merge this two vertex points why?

Hi, I am a beginner in 3DMax and I reaaly need your help with this one: I simply cant connect the two red marked vertex points why is that?

well it seems to me they are way to far apart.. and the threshhold on the weld tool is low.. trying moving them closer together and raise the threshhold

It doesnt work! it connects to otjer vertexes further away than that.

I wonder why that line isnt white marked as the others perhaps that is the problem?!

Try to convert to Editable Mesh and then back to Editable Poly again ... that should solve the edge problem

Is it me or do you simply have to refine the edge you want to connect?

It worked by converting to mesh and then back to poly but I need to redefine an another vertex also otherwise I have a gap there

I got it now I cut it and make a new vertex
