XEON or Opteron

Hi all,

I am buying new workstation that i will use for working in Rhino, 3dsmax and rendering in Vray.
What seems to perform better XEONs or Opterons.
Any info will be helpful. i cant decide wich one to buy as i dont have experience in working eather with XEONs or Opterons.

I use duel xeon processors at work, they perform ok but they aren't outstanding, sometimes I think my laptop is faster

dont know about opterons but I have heard dual core processors are the nuts as they also support SLI (scalable link) graphics cards. which can give you up to 500mb of graphics. tasty!
