Re: Question:

wow, BIG question.. well first of all you wouldn't turbocharge a V8 for a mustang, you would supercharge it.
okay lets see. This goes for a basic V8 engine i think:

From the buttom: The cylinder block, cylinder heads, carburetors, supercharger (If supercharged), then a big airfilter or weird intake thing if supercharged on the top.
Then there is the Exhaust headers. and the drivebelt on the front of the engine. The radiator and the fan is up front.
On the back-buttom of the engine is the transmission. and on the buttom is the oil pan.

Then there are the fuel-injected engines: instead of carburetors they have fuelinjection. there is an intake manifold. the turbo (if mounted) goes between the airfilter and the intake manifold and is powered by the exhaust gas, where the supercharger is powered by the drivebelt..

thats it for now children.. see you later..

Re: Question:

Why wouldn't you turbocharge a V8? I have even seen pics of a '57 Chevy with a turbo for each of the cylinders on it's V8

You could look the parts up on interner OR you could go and buy a plastic model of a car with a V8 and study the engine that way. They're usually pretty accurate and you get a better idea of how the parts come together. It's also easier to measure the parts so that the dimensions are correct

Re: Question:

I just thought that you were more likely to supercharge an old V8 engine, rather then turbocharging it.
