Modeling without a Top View

Would there be any tips on Modeling a car without a top view.. I have the side, back and front.. but no top.. I noticed modeling a car with a top view is alot easier.. I have done a car without a top view.. but somtimes I get stuck.
anyway is there a way to make this a little easier?

Re: Modeling without a Top View

There is one simple way of modeling without (a top)blueprints: Refpics
Use lots of refpics (preferably the real car ), and look at it how it's shaped. You actually only need to know how sharp the corners of the bumpers are, nothing more
So keep looking at refpics (even if you're using a topprint, you should always check refs).
Good luck!

Re: Modeling without a Top View

the few times I have used a top view I've found them distracting... plus the fact that they are usually in perspective views, instead of orthographic, makes them bad accuracy threats...the best thing to do when you use the 3-prints method is to make extra certain that every vertex lines up with each view as best as possible...

I don't agree on that.. Prints are often very inaccurate, and often there are no lines in the corners (which are the most concerned). Refpics is really the best choice IMO

... well, I'm talking about when you know the prints you're using are actually something close to blueprints: like, something that you only get the luxury of having about 3% of the time

but yeah, I find that aside from getting the main components down in approximate areas, if you're using perspectived prints, then reference pics are usually the only thing that saves the model, unless you just really know the model well...

also, as far as using perspective'd top views, I think that's some of the worst perspective you can have, almost as bad as modeling a human head from a plain photo. They make the roof of the car way too big and really make creating the windows and the overall angle of the side walls a pain in the neck...
