Points

Hi all.

I was wondering how the point system works...
Why is it under Bank information?
Can you turn points into money?

Count me with people wanting some explanations about the point systems.

About the system keeping users posting, the major issue we may be facing is proliferation of comments like "nice !" or "good job !" or "i like it !".
I'd recently discovered the sektor-41 forums. I don't know the people behind the site, but the idea, of a team whom people agree to post only useful and constructive comments, is really nice ! Few talented users are _always_ constructive and useful posters.

I hope the point system will help us keep them posting this way.

That I can say it is here to encourage people to post more. And as I said earlier we need to setup this points system still so it works like we want to.

So if the objective is to get people posting more, you should try to give more points to the one posting longer comments. Usually the one who takes time to write down a long comment wants to be constructive and give a detailed explanation of what he thinks.

Or you can just add points manually after reading each one

Actually when you write longer post you will get more points so people who puts lots of effort to comment each others work will get "richer" so to say

I hope it will change, it's pretty useless now, as there is some issues with the current implementation :

- I'd a look at hall of fame. Looks weird to me that there is such a quick variation from top to bottom (and I 'm not thinking to mmm) and so few people above 1000 points.

- When reading some topics here and there, it's not uncommon to see negative scores. If points are granted when one comments, when points are removed ?

- There's also some most famous users with (relatively) few points. Hard to understand.

Weird, weird, weird.

Its all about the log in(how many times), winning games at the arcade and posting, doesent have anything with how famous the person is.

That's the reason why I don't understand the system. Visiting, gaming (!), posting doesn't make an user useful to others people. Just posting with interesting advices and constructive critics.

Otherwise, just tell me the point counter of an user is not relevant to his/her value to others. That's the way I understood it.

Well look at me and you, me Im a BIG noob just started with scratch work and you done alot more so you the pro in this case, why I got over 1000 is cos I did a cupple of coments and made two topics etc etc

And it IS useful to make posts on other ppl work with telling what this person thinks and feels about the other person's work.

Thats the point counter made for, not only to make ppl post but to help and give thoughts about their's work.

Hope that was understandable, Im a master to make every thing complicated lol.

Welcome here, don't hesitate to post your work in the Work in progress section : http://www.smcars.net/forums/work-progress/. The 2006 XK is a nice car, not yet modeled here if I'm right.

About points, don't care about it : as of now, they look pretty useless. I hope someone will explain the objectives behind it.
