need help on how to make the gaps between car panels in XSI

you know those gaps in btween the door and those other pieces
on the cars...

how do you make them? (i'm using softimage:XSI btw)

thanks.

(btw im new to this forum. i'm not even sure am i supposed to post help questions here)

hmm I guess this forums fine, but sorry I cant help you but maybe someone can, amazing how many 3d programs there are, never even heard of softimage, but I'm sure someone has. Good luck

I have no skills in XSI either ... but what modelling technique are you using ? usually they dont vary that much between programs (fingers crossed ... )

lol the only 3d programs i've heard of so far is

softimage: xsi
maya
and 3d studio max


actally i'm wondering do you guys like bevel the gaps inward or
do you actually have seperate pieces and like you space them out?

like im looking the technique on how to do it, not the actual
"step by step" thing.. so i suppose anyone can help me even if they don't use xsi

I model the parts piece by piece, but keep the same number of segments on the parts and try to place the vertices in "double pairs" with the gaps between them.

This way they will subdivide in a similar way andthe gap will have a constant size all the way.
