2D/3D Advantages

Hello, I'm doing a small research project about 2d vs 3d. I was hoping that the SMCars community could contribute by telling me your opinions and knowledge about the advantages of 3D, and that of 2D. As well, which you feel currently has the upper hand, and which you like best.
This includes gaming as well as movies.

Hmm.. well, the advantage of 3D is that you can see it from every possible direction
And the advantage of 2D is, that it takes less polies to make :mrgreen:
Though it takes time to make textures for it...

2D movies?
What do you reckon as 2D movies??
