Modeling a car.

you'll not find much help around here, everyone seems to use 3dsmax and lw. i use maya though, and i just make a small plane and extrude the edges around the shape of the car and tweak the vertex's like mad till youre ready to smooth

Modeling a car.

hey,
im a maya user and i saw this post! fancy that! i pull vertices around the shape of the car and smooth it off. always works for me! my only problem is that recently i was working on a dodge challenger and it was all going well but when i mirrored the poly shape and merged the vertices down the middle, i was left with a huge seam! when i smoothed it the whole car looked like a pile of s**t! can anyone help?

the thing to do is to merge the connecting edges before smoothing, sometimes when you use mirror geometry the central edges are not all welded together, you need to do the rest manually!!!

gimem me some news if it works for you, it solved my problem with my s3

solution:
select the vertices you want to weld. select edit polygons -> merge vertices, then, with the vertices still selectec edit polygons -> merge multiple edges

after that the seams should be gone.
