    3DS MAX Maya

    Building a new PC

Hey guys as u know amd fx series processors are released
and i am planning to build a new rig
softwares i will use on that pc will be max, maya ,after effects ,nuke, means a lot of rendering work.

    the configuration i decided is

    intel i7 2600k
    dh67bl mother board
    16 gigs ram
    1tb wd hdd

    or

    amd fx 8150
    compatible board
    16 gigs ram
    1tb wd hdd

    ........
    issues are :
which one to chose intel or amd !!!!
as i am low on budget i want to know that would this need a normal 300 watt smps or should i go for 500+ smps !!!!
i have only heard about overclocking and it means to boost up your proccesor's speed upto 1.5 Ghz or different ,so does overclocking requires extra power (needs a 500+ watt smps{psu} or it will work on a regular smps,do this also requires extra and heavy cooling fans (i heard that system starts heating too much after its overclocked !!!
    ................
if there is any other configuration option please tell me that too...

    Hey Ambarrj,

I read the latest reviews of the AMD FX processor and I'm very disappointed. The performance gain you maybe get with an AMD processor and its architecture can be meassured only the syntethic benchmarks at the moment. So almost no "real" software supports the new architecture and instructions. Plus even the windows 7 scheduler has problems with AMD's latest processor. Currently Microsoft is working on a Patch. Maybe that helps for a better overall performance of AMD's new processor but I would doubt that.

I have almost the same rig as Two One One and bought it in march. I'm very happy with it (as TwoOneOne as well I think ). I would really go for the Intel processor. It's is better overall in performance, you have less power consumption and a way better overclocking potential. And I'm saying that as an AMD fan .

I absolutely agree with AndyCTDP. Go for the Intel, seriously. I updated my motherboard to AM3+ & 16Gb ram and I've been watching the new Bulldozer release quite closely. But now Im very dissapointed, it simply isnt on the level as the 2600K.

Get a quality 450-750W powersupply (depending on your graphics card) and a decent cooler for your CPU, and you should be able to overclock the CPU. Powersupply is basicly the most critical component of your PC, so I do not suggest you go cheap on it. Read reviews, find out the best price/quality ratio on the model you want, takes time, but is absolutely worth it.

Also, I dont have the faintest idea about your motherboard, and since that affects a great deal on how you can overclock, get one that is commonly known to have the capability for OC'ing. Here you can review the differences between chipsets. Basicly if you run a discrete graphics card, get P67 (usually cheaper than Z68) and if you use the 2600K's integrated get the Z68. H67 isnt for overclocking.

Well if you worry about budgeting, you have to think twice, the product of paying less is sub standard devices which actually result of lots of head ache in time. Make your money worth by choosing the best hardware in building your own PC, I go for Intel, it is on the top of the line.

If you haven't bought your PC yet, get an HDD as soon as possible! Because of flood in Thailand prices are rising quickly!
