whats a good car to start modelling?
i feel like ive been starting out with cars that are too complex for my skill level. whats a simple, good looking car that i can model and actualy complete, instead of getting frustrated and quitting after a few days of work.
this is an example of how far i get before i give up: ![]() every panel on the car is separate in that one... oh yeah, and i use maya 5 thanks for any advice! -Brendan |

I think it looks pretty good, the shape is definitely there.
![]() As for a good car for a beginner to model, well, it depends on what you like. The hardest part of modelling is keeping at it, so just make sure you pick a car you really like and won't lose interest in after awhile. Also, modelling the car you drive in R/L would be a good place to start, as you've always got a physical reference sitting right there. ![]() ![]() Scott:Okay, Houston. As I stand out here in the wonders of the unknown at Hadley, I sort of realize there's a fundamental truth to our nature. Man must explore. |

whats a good car to start modelling?
hey, thats pretty good. Thats better than my first "attempt" at modelin a car, keep workin on it. Did u use polys or nurbs? how did u get the mesh to be so smooth? that's somethin that im tryin to achive, also it's cool that u use maya....i do to. I've notice not too many ppl use it.
Anyway...keep up the good work. |

whats a good car to start modelling?
The best car to model if you're getting bored/frustrated is your absolute most favourite car in history. Screw blueprints. If you like a car enough for it to be your all time favourite, you'll easily see it through to the end.

whats a good car to start modelling?
Hi,
I think that you should start by modeling an angular car to learn the basics. It will need less polygons and so it will be easier to make smoothing groups, for example. You should also have big, acurate blueprints for your first try. |

I think like already posted that you should start with a car you either really like or perhaps the car that you actually own yourself. The advantage with modeling the car you own is that if you need any reference material its just a matter of looking at your car. This is why I think for my first car I will model a Ford Mondeo.
