Top 10 American Muscle Cars?

What do you consider the best or most important Classic American Muscle cars? I am considering building a "Best of American Muscle" set. Some of my favorites are:

1964 GTO (Started the Muscle car craze)
1965 Mustang GT (Beginning of the Ponycar)
1967 427 Corvette (Big Block under glass)
1968 Mustang 428 Cobra Jet
1969 GTO Judge
1969 Yenko Camaro
1969 Dodge Charger RT
1969 Cougar Eliminator
1970 Plymouth AAR Cuda
1970 Plymouth Superbird

hmm... well I'm not much on the years but I do know what I like ( thanks for making a topic in here, usually just me most of the time) Btw I hope the Transam Is a muscle car

1. 1973 Dodge Challenger ( I like that car a lot since I built one for NFS4)
2. 1971 Ford Mustang Mach I
3. 1967 Mustang GT500 ( I knew of it before GISS came out)
4. 1968 Dodge Charger
5. 1971 Pontiac Firebird Transam (think thats the one I like, might be a year or two later)
6. 1979 Pontiac Firebird Transam
7. 1969 Camaro SS ( I think thats the one with the covered headlights)
8. 1969 GTO Judge (yeah I liked it alot too)
9. 1970 Plymoth Superbird ( err isnt that the one with the HUGE wing that Richard Petty Drove)
10.1973 Pontiac GTO

Anyhow, this took a bit of thinking and I Hope the transams considered muscle, didnt see it in your list.

I don't know a whole lot about muscle cars, I do know that the 1964 Pontiac GTO started the whole thing. That car is the most important one to me, because if nobody makes the first one, it doesn't exist.

Surprised to see that nobody mentioned the '04 Viper GTS-R yet. :? Besides that, I'd probably say the '63 and '69 Corvette Stingrays, '67 Shelby GT350, '92 Vector W8 Twin-Turbo, and the '05 Stang Cobra R...yup. :twisted:

I don't think the 2004 Viper would quite fit into the "Classic" term, at least not yet, nor would anything newer then say late 70's to mid 80's. Car's like the Viper and Cobra also fit more into the Supercar / Exotic realm and the Vette is sort of bordering on that (IMHO). It really is a true sportscar, but has some "Muscle Car" stigma still attached to it.

Half of those cars aren't even muscle cars.. especially that Vector W8 TT... that's a super car.
