N00b needs help...the frustration is growing!

Hi

This is my 1st attempt at modeling a car/vehicle, Im used to modeling Humanoid forms in low poly...

My problem is, after roughing at the shape in prep for meshsmooth I want to place the the creases into the car as i like to model as 1 peice and not lots of multiple parts. I read Onno's tut on this..sounded simple enough but its all going pear shaped where lines cross each other.

Onno recommended chamfering, extruding then chamfering again and if lines cross to do them all at once but i get some funky curved effect going on and its really frustrating me.

I ve added 3 screens for you guys to look at, screen1 shows the edges chamfred and 2+3 show the result which is slowing my progress.

Simpleton terms or drawing on the pics would b best If u require more pics i can post em. A

*I only performed part of the process to show the worst problem area*

Regards

Hinch

Even though you chamfered the edges the corner is only a one point corner. See the attached image

I dont use chamfer for creating the seams on my cars (I do it by hand) but for a corner to be sharp you need to have three vertices close together in 90 degrees, in all directions

Make a box with 3 segments in all axis and test to add meshsmooth to it. Then pull the middle vertices towards the edges in different arrangements ... to get the feels for it

I would do the part in question like the attached picture.
