Recover Max6 File, PLZ HLP

Hi guys, I was wondering if there is anyway in recovering a file that wont open. I was working on a new car and the computer crashed. After restarting Max it now says FILE OPEN FAILED. I have looked for an autobak but there isn't 1 as they are all empty. I have also tried to see if I can merge the contents of the file into a new 1 but again it just says FILE OPEN FAILED. Is there any other way of recovering this file? PLZ help

PS. Here is what I was working on. I thought I'd show it as I'm doubting that I will be able to recover this file. Also I can supply the Max file if needed.

Hmm, I don't think its possible to open that file, I had it also a couple of times.

And your autoback files are empty? lol, you have autoback turned of?
If so, turn it on! I have it set at 5min saving, in 5 files, so I never loose anything

But I think you have to start all over again...

Thanks Sub Zeuz, I have autobak on same settings as u only its 9 file not 5. Autobak 1-9 are all empty. Think your right though, guess its going to have to be a restart.

Ps. Btw I've been working on this for 3 days so you'd think there would be at least 1 autobak.

i never had a corrupt max6 file so far (touch wood)
so i cant help u.
did u try and merge the file ?
maybe that works :?

That's why you should use Incremental Save. If you're not using it, turn it on NOW (Customize > Preferences... > Files > check Increment on Save). What it does is it automatically appends a number to the filename whenever you save with CTRL+S. This way, you can go back if you've done something wrong and want to start again, or in this case, if the file becomes corrupt. Press CTRL+S often and you'll never have these troubles again.

Thanks for your replies gentlmen, Blitzze I've always hit ctrl s but I never noticed that setting before, thanks alot for that valuable information .
Well I restarted it, hopefully it wont happen again :? . Going to have to check my computer out as it keeps rebooting every now and then.
