connecting vertices

Hmm, shouldn't there be something like a help forum?

Ah whatever, I started on the car we own, spline modeling with 3ds max.
But I ran into something and I don't know how to get passed it.

How do I connect the vertices shown in the image?
I can use weld to connect two endpoints, but I can't connect these..

connecting vertices

turn on the 3d magnet thing up top

right click it and select verticies only...

then grab one and drag it to the next one and it will snap..

then just weld them togther

It's not working, I get the message 'no vertices within weld threshold'.
And yes even when I set the threshold very high it still won't weld.

Well, most sites have seperate forums for general discussion and help

you cant weld them together because that's an illegal operation on a spline. A spline can only have one path and cant be split up into a "Y" for example.

But for spline modelling you dont have to weld everything together just connect the vertices. i.e. use vertex snap or fuse tool.

Check out the surface modifier basics in the help files.

I know you don't have to do that, but it makes moving them easier.
And well, I thought I even made a crosssection somewhere else, but now I'm checking again, it isn't one

Anyway thanks for the help
Car modeling is harder then I thought.
The blueprints aren't too accurate either, maybe I'd better take some pictures of the car.
