Best Method of Modeling? Esp. without blueprints?

Can someone kindly explain the difference between box method, poly method, and other types of methods of modeling you use to do the vehicles?

Currently I am unable to find any blueprints for my car that is of good measurements so I'm left with a just a few angled reference photos. Anyone have any advice on how to use these photographed angles of a reference car and make them into blueprints? I don't have the exact measurements either. Anyway, most importantly would someone kindly provide any advice of what method might be good in modeling just off of a reference?

I saw a thread posted here somewhere, but that was for 3Dmax and I don't know what a spline is having only used Maya as a beginner.

As far as I've heard...

Box Method: You're pretty much working off a box geometry and then form the basic shape by extruding etc and then refine edges as you go.

On the other note:

If you really need perspective shots that bad...I think you are better off asking someone or look to see if there's a scaled model of it and use a specific camera lens to avoid the perspectives...research what lens specifically as I barely use a camera often professionally.

What are disadvantages to Box Modeling? Why do people prefer the Edge Modeling? I tried a bit of both if that is what Box Method is. I find them both equally difficult but what would be the advantages over the other ?

There is no advantage in either,It just depends on the user, and how they do things. Some may find box modeling easier wheras another would find poly modeling easier

Thank you. I'm reading about it in other threads with people who are having similiar issues. I find the Edge Method quite difficult to make anything smooth or everything to line up right especially after making changes.

It is arbitrary which method you use...a more curvy vehicle like a Ferrari certainly takes more time to refine the surfaces once you have the basic shape...I don't use box modeling for one because I haven't use it as much and it more time consuming for me.
