Welcome Back to SMCars
I would like to publically and formally welcome everyone back to SMCars and appologize for the recent downtime. Once again, SMCars has grown larger then we had expected and is now on it's own full dedicated server. This is the 3rd or 4th time now that we have had to move because the server was not capable of handling this active site.
![]() Hopefully this will not happen again. Since we had to switch servers, I figured it was best time to switch over to vbulletin, which is great I must add. The downside to this is that the old forum used an incompatible password hash, thus meaning that the passwords for the users were not imported correctly and now everyone will have to reset there password to login. If you have any issues doing this, please feel free to contact me using the contact us link at the bottom of the page. If you come across anything that needs to be changed, fixed or added, please don't hesitate to contact me. Once again, I would like to thank you for your patience and sticking with SMCars, and Welcome Back! |

i didn't have to change a thing. and now that i try to change my pw i get
"the pw you entered is wrong" or somesuch. ehhh. like i'm dumbstruck right now. well to change your pw, you have to enter the pw you login with and give the new one 2 times. i did all that and it i get the above message. so then i logged off, tried to relogin with my old one and bingo it works. might be i'm trying too much with my new pw, like useing numbers and chars like § or so... hmmm will try again now ![]() /edit ok, back. just tried re-entering my current pw in all 3 fields of the form and guess what: "The password you have entered does not match your current one. Please press the back button, enter the correct details and try again. Don't forget that the password is case sensitive. Forgotten your password? Click here!" wtf? ![]() ![]() sky / surprise! productions Sitting there watching that powder-blue and orange 917 barreling down the Mulsanne and getting squirrelly under braking was the exact moment when I stopped thinking Corvettes were the coolest cars on earth. - Don Holloway |

Yes very strange, When I logged in it woulnt let me with my original setup so I did what Mat said and reset it. Got my password in the email (some wierd code) Typed my name put the new code in and presto I was in. Then I went to my CP and put it back to my old setup. And didn thave to fiddle with it anymore. (Not that this helps you but just mine went smooth)

ok, thanks. i guess working the nightshift didn't really help me today
.figured out what was to do and now it apparently works. i had to reset my pw - that was the hard part, really . like entering a wrong one onpurpose up in the logon thingy - then clicking the link (that isn't really recognizeable as one - underlining the here might help there). then go to your email, click the link to get to the reset pw page, do that, get another mail - and bingo, now you're able to really change your pw. god, at times i'm real dense... 5:20am.. (last day of this dreadful shift - for the time being)... yay ![]() sky / surprise! productions Sitting there watching that powder-blue and orange 917 barreling down the Mulsanne and getting squirrelly under braking was the exact moment when I stopped thinking Corvettes were the coolest cars on earth. - Don Holloway |

hey flash, you don't really have to reset your pw for normal usage, but once
you may want to change either your email-address or your pw in the future, then you have to reset the pw. if you try changing your pw now via the control panel, you'll probably get the same error message i got, although your typed your current pw correct and all - it's the hash of your current pw that is barfed or incompatible (let's say hash is the encrypted version of your pw). so when you try to change it, it asks for your original pw, compares what you entered to the stored (incom- patible) hash and claims its wrong - that's why you should reset your pw the way i described above. took me some time to figure it out |D .. try it ... /edit besides all that. site's looking great and working like a charm, thumbs up! /edit what i would like to know though, is why i cannot change my avatar - profile pic, no prob. but nono with the av. i only get like a radiobutton that is prechecked (don't use avatar) next to an empty pic and no place to u/l or give an url. and at the bottom of that page is the funny buttons that offers to "reset fields" (which one i ask )...![]() sky / surprise! productions Sitting there watching that powder-blue and orange 917 barreling down the Mulsanne and getting squirrelly under braking was the exact moment when I stopped thinking Corvettes were the coolest cars on earth. - Don Holloway Last edited by sky^sp : 03-06-2006 at 10:36 PM. |
