Wow, those are great quality for low-poly models, I'm relatively new to this forum, and I'm just wondering when the next lowpoly contest will be.

Well, thanks to all who voted for me.

I'd like to congratulate the other contestants too, and especially Bumper for the shared win.

I'm very happy with my 3rd place, as I said before, so thanks everybody who voted for me!

I do however think that Bumper deserves the first place a bit more, because he also modelled and textured an interior, which is a plus over no interior in my opinion. So Tigga, even though you don't like doing it, next time you could pose a challenge to yourself and also model more than just the outside of a car ?

Yeah, well, i can understand where you're coming from and to be honest i actually am feeling a bit alike.
Anyways, you know that Camaro I posted a WIP thread of? That is actually going to get an interior, and who would have thought it, I'm actually looking forward to building that even if I shied away from building it on my earlier projects because i didn't like doing that. Weird world...

I can see why you don't like modelling stuff like that: there's no obvious blueprints, and refpics are hard to make out. Even my Ferrari (for which I sat in the real one twice) ended up with the dash being obviously smaller in height than the real thing. It's more a feeling/freehand thing, I used to feel bad about not being able to do a good accurate job on an engine for example, but it's just too damn hard to be 100% accurate, just do whatever you can and have it resemble the real thing as much as possible. You've certainly got the skills for it
(It also means you'll have to spend your budget even tighter, which is also a good challenge )

btw, didn't see the Camaro thread yet, my job is not allowing me much time for SMC this month, but I'll have a look

Hey what about making a BIKE for the next contest? same limits as this one?
also, would it be a good idea to judge the cars on how they look in game, which is the purpose of modelling low-poly right? Because some of us just don't have fancy render tools.

Congrats to the winners.

Renders were not important in lowpoly contest, they were just a way to show the model. More important was the overall look of the model such as wireframe and textures. I hope voters remembered this

imo the renders show how good the textures come out in the end if you know what i mean, they sort of replace the in-game thing superwes88 mentioned

as for me judging textures when they are shown is really difficult for me as i don't have any experience with them. it's just that the renders help me with the decision then.

Yes they do show, but not everyone has possibility to make renders as for example ZMod users. That's why it was more important to judge the textures and model itself
