Cool Weekly Write-Up - 13/01/2008

We're at the very end of the 2nd week of the new year now, and although some still have holidays remaining, the majority of us were back at work this past week working for the man, and this very weekend. We know you don't want to go back to work tomorrow, so SMC pays me in back-rubs and candy to write these Weekly Write-Ups to soften the blow for you...

So sit back, relax and enjoy the 2nd of the many Weekly Write-Ups for the year...

-------------------------

A Chest To Pin It On...

Here at SMCars.net, we're always looking for ways to keep our users involved in what goes on around here. We work like slave-monkies coming up with new ideas, most of which are shot down in flames by Johnas as he tells us not only our idea is a strike against the human race, but that we, as a person, fail at life...

This last week housed something special though... An idea that we've been working on that will hopefully add a bit more of a meaning to contests held here at SMC... Ready for it?...

From now on, SMC Medals will now be awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd winners of contests.

I know what you're thinking.. "But Doc, I am but a simple nerd whos scrawny chest couldn't possibly hold a medal on, let alone multiple 'cos I'm so awesome at what I do"... Wrong!! We here at SMC always go one better, and in this case, we thought to ourselves that real Medals (or even the tin-foil wrapped chocolate ones) are too old-school for us, so we found some help and have come up with these...

These are Official SMC Medals... One for 1st, one for 2nd, and one for loser...uh, I mean 3rd. Now these are just the base medal. The medals for up-and-coming contests will have something drawn on them relating to that contest, whether it'd be a symbol or whatever.

The way the SMC Medal system will work is that when the winners are drawn, 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners will be awarded the right to display their corresponding Medal in their Signature or Avatar. If you're l33t enough, you can build up a whole Signature of Medals you've accummilated in your time here at SMC. Oh, and here's my favourite bit... Anyone who's caught displaying a Medal they haven't earnt is...wait for it... Insta-Banned!!

Also, don't forget too that before you chuck a new contest out into the works, it first needs to be approved by a SMC Administrator or Moderator who will discuss it with the rest of the SMC higher-ups. You can read about this and more in our rules and guide for Creating A Contest.

Wrapping up SMC Medals, we would like to throw our thanks and underwear out to Niray, our 'Official SMC 2D Designer', who took the task of creating our Medals on board, and did one kick-ass job of 'em too!!

More BRRAAAIIINNs...

The WZA Contest is still well under way with with some truly amazing works-in-progress. If slaughtering the living-dead in a personally-designed juiced up auto sounds like some weekend fun for you, then make sure you head on over to the WZA Contest and check it out!!

-------------------------

Ending Weekly Write-Up 2, I'd just like to mention again that any ideas, suggestions and abuse that you might have tinkering around inside those brains of yours, send 'em our way!! We want to do what we can around here to make this place, YOUR place

...and here's Pick-Of-The-Week, supplying the 1.21 Giga-Watts of power needed for this Weekly Write-Up: Sebastian Appel N.P's WIP "BoneCrusher" WZA Entry...

Current Project: Waiting...

Wheels: Watch this space...
-------------------------
System/s: PC, Xbox 360 (XBL GT: DrFe3lgo0d), PlayStation Portable

Are the medals given to us by admins.. so this isn't something you have to add yourself? I've won one competition back in like 2006. Will it still be allowed?

Yes we admins will add medals to winners, we have to think about if we will give medals to previous winners aswell. Wouldn't be a problem of course

Nice medals, the pictures are great and the idea is excellent.

I'm not sure about giving medals to the past competitions, but it's up to the staff to choose what to do, of course. If you go for that, about the "Light is Right" contest, you should give 2 gold medals I think.
