Welcome all to a very big dose of a SMC Weekly Write-Up, now comin' atchya on Monday nights!!
We've got an Interview, we've got finished contest entries, we've got pointless filler topics to make this Write-Up seem bigger than what it is, and of course, we've got the face-exploding awesomeness that is the SMC Three Threads and the Pick at the bottom of this page. So stop playing GTA, put down that loaded hand-gun and ignore the girlfriend/boyfriend so you can sink your teeth into another SMC Weekly Write-Up!!... ------------------------- End Of An Era... The second Official SMC Contest is almsot at an end. A Finished Entries Thread has been put up for all contenders to post their entries in, so make sure you head on over to get a sneak peek before voting kicks in next week!! Car Owners Unite... We've had a Poll up recently to give Users a chance to share their opinions on something new to be implemented into the SMC Forums, SMC's User Rides. With the information and criticism we got from this Poll, we have devised a way of incorporating this so every User can easily understand, and be apart of, this new SMC first. The updated version of SMC's User Rides will be up next weekend, along with a complete set of rules and guidelines which must be adhered to. So keep a look out on the Forums, and we hope you enjoy this new addition to SMCars.net!! IRC You... For those that don't know, or simply want to be reminded of, SMCars.net boasts a very cool IRC Channel that the members of SMC congrugate on. You can listen to Nik rave about how awesome Volvos are, see The IC make another brick comment about Nik's said Volvo spam, and generally just socialise and have a good laugh. If you're interested, head over to here and get yourself started!! Spammage... Most of you have noticed quite a bit of that pointless meat we all know as spam surfacing on our beloved Forum lately. Us Admins/Mods can't be on 24/7 to look out for this junk, so we rely partly on the Users of SMC to report this. Many thanks to the Users that have kept our Forums clean by reporting the spam over the last week!! Interview: NightEye... Some keen Users may've noticed the slippage of an Interview not being included in last week's Write-Up. This I apologise for, so please put away the flaming torches and the boards with nails through them, 'cos here it is in all it's glory... ------------------------- Interview: NightEye ------------------------- You, Summarised... Name (just first): Arjen Alias: NightEye Age: 21 Location: Westerbroek, The Netherlands Qualifications (if any): I guess none yet ![]() Current Job: I work in a supermarket. Playing Joseph Stalin for the 15-year-olds Actually people think real bad about working in a supermarket. I work there for 3,5 years, and always with a lot of fun. The more and longer you work there, the more responsibility you get. Which you can abuse for those 15-year-olds or simply use to help people. And helping people is something I like doing ![]() ------------------------- Like To Get To Know You Well... What made you get into digital art? Long story. It all began with Half-Life! I used to make levels for HL with Hammer, untill we bought Need For Speed 3: Hot Pursuit. That game was so cool back then, so I started to mod a few cars. Making a Volvo out of the BMW M5, changing textures, colours, etc.. Then, with CarCAD, I modeled my own tank. the UV map was ugly as hell, but that was my very first real model. After a while I began to use ZModeler to edit cars from Need For Speed 4: High Stakes. Then built my own first car for it. I liked the modelling a lot, and look where it brought me.. ![]() What do you like most about this field? The challenge, I think. When I encounter a difficult section of a model, it's the time when I enjoy it the most. Sometimes it's really breaking me up, but most of the time it encourages me to make that piece as good as I possibly can. Explain what your current job entails, and why you like it: As I said, directing a group of children (15-23 years old). Making sure they do their jobs correctly. Other than that, I do pretty much the same as them. What do you see yourself working as in 10 years? Bridge constructor. Either designing or supervising. I'm studying civil engineering now, and next year I'm doing a design course. What is your dream company in this field that you would want to work for, and why? Witteveen+Bos, like anyone would know this They design stuff like bridges, water locks, etc.------------------------- Wrapping You Up... What are your other hobbies/interests? Photography, photo-editing, playing music (piano) and making it (pc). Other than that: playing pool, cycling, driving my car.. somewhat like that ![]() And last but not least, since this is a 3D car-related forum, what is your dream car, and why? Wow. Err.. Lots and lots actually. Audi R8, Aston Martin DBS, Spyker C8 Laviolette, Saleen S7, Pagani Zonda C12S, McLaren F1 LM, .. you know... ------------------------- END Interview: NightEye ------------------------- Well that's it for a rather hefty Write-Up. Keep an eye on the FOrums this week for some exciting stuff!! ------------------------- Three Threads Of The Week: - PALAT's 1960 Chevrolet Biscayne: More stunning work by one of the masters of SMC. - The IC's SuperGT Thread: Another car is up, this time a Lexus concept. - Partick_F's R8: Another R8 surfaces on SMC, recreated perfectly as usual by Partick. ------------------------- Pick-Of-The-Week... Yeah.. we don't think he sleeps either... Again, IC takes the Pick with his fancy Lexus concept... ![]() ![]() ------------------------- Current Project: Pondering... ------------------------- Wheels: 1977 Ford Fairlane ZH ------------------------- System/s: PC, Xbox 360 (XBL GT: DrFe3lgo0d), PlayStation Portable -------------------------

Really long and interesting write-up, a must-have to read, maybe the best of the series so far. Thanks Doc for the time you've put into it.
I'm a bit surprised by the lack of updates in the 60's contest so far. I hope contenders don't post because all their time is dedicated to improve their entries. Keep it up men, we can't let this so-promizing contest down ! ![]() ![]() Currently project : Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Roadster Previous : Marcos 1800 GT (60's winner), Ariel Atom II (LightIsRight winner), SuperSeven (WZA #4) See my work and my tutorials on www.thomasbaron.net |
