Chassis for 350 Chev

A friend of mine recently acquired a 350 Chev, and we can't decide whether to drop it into an old Torana (pre 1975 model) or an old Valiant. I can't be bothered googling these cars for images but any replies will hopefully be made by people who know what they are anyway. Both machines are around the same cost (very cheap) and in the same condition (engineless near-wrecks). Any thoughts?

EDIT: Googled some pics of both cars.

I cannot confirm nor deny my car can do 220kph...

Re: Chassis for 350 Chev

didn't some Toranas come with V8s stock? At least that way you know it fits and might even be able to get off the shelf conversion parts.

Re: Chassis for 350 Chev

I'm pretty sure that at first they came with sixes and later they gave them eights which made the handling and ride somewhat poorer. If we do put the 350 into the torana we'll get ugraded shocks and stuff so that it can take the stress. I'm not sure what kind of engine the one we can pick up used to have, and it's pretty difficult to tell considering the decrepid state of the thing.

Re: Chassis for 350 Chev

Needs some work but it looks sound, they built them tough back then.

Re: Chassis for 350 Chev

I think the Torana was orignally designed to compete with the escort but it was less of a rally car and more of a rough track racer. Both of them are triple tough cars at any rate.

Re: Chassis for 350 Chev

Well it's finally hooked up and running...well the back wheels are The front wheels don't steer because it needs a new steering column, and it needs road-legal mufflers, so for now it's up on the blocks and we scare the neighbourhood children by revving it
