Ok I know how you're feeling, I'm not a great fan of sequels either, infact I rarely buy a game with a numer on it's name. However I think that it's almost the same with Xbox, so I have been thinking Revolution... I think that Nintendo has the guts to push out some really original stuff.

On the matter of console specs, it really doesn't matter which one is the most powerful. Almost all of the game developers say that they are not going to make games only for one console because it's just not cost effective. So if all games are supposed to be working on all consoles why spend extra money to get that last drop of performance say on 360 version? I think the games will look and feel almost identical on all three next gen consoles.

Planning to get the PS3 since all of my favourite games are from the japanese developers.. and heard many bad news for the X360... things like console freezing due to overheating and much more... seems like MS rush a lot to get the console out without much in-depth testing

360 here, itll be my first console since the N64, but the PS3 is estimated at what, $500-600 with games running up to $80-90? I mean, are you guys willing to pay that? Personally, im going to wait and hopefully get a 360 + Call of Duty 2 for Christmas.

Maybe... I had just heard that on the 'Countdown to the XBox 360' that was on G4 from 9-12 the night before the launch. But you gotta know that Sony OWNS the Japanese market, so I dont think that itll be a problem for Sony to find customers... Even here in America... But we shall wait and see*

I really have no console preference. If I was gonna buy any one, I'd pick the Revolution. PS3 is a close second to that, since I own a PS2 and I've always liked what Sony's had to offer. I like them all though..but I wouldn't buy one right when it comes out, I never do because they always have problems in the beginning. Look at the X360, people are already saying their systems won't save sometimes, and the system just turns off in the middle of a game. I wait to buy my consoles.

same here, and you can't mod your games after they get a little boring on a console
(but too bad there are so many good RPGs on the PS2 i'm a little envious right there :'( )

I have a Xbox360 right now, and I might get a PS3 as well when it finally comes out at the end of 2006.* Incidentally, I just downloaded the Fight Night 360 demo free from marketplace... it TOTALLY ROCKS! So those of you lucky enough to have a 360 should definitely check it out.

yes my xbox 360 does freeze on ocasition but its a freeking MINI computer(PC), so it will overheat when it under extreme stress and when you do something stoopid it will screw around with you just like a pc will, Same thing will go for ps3, its basically a mini pc too, will have overheating problems and WILL freeze, theirs nothing you can do about it, aslong as theirs impatient people allive that cant think before they try opening up the XBOXLIVE friends list while the MAP LOADS!! like wtf, wait so you dont overload the cpu....ps3 will have its problems just like 360, theirs no way of avoiding it, a ps3 and 360 is a PC.

have to give that a big up! its amazing, graphics are sooo good, and its just a demo, this game shows what develepers learn in a matter of week/months about the console and how to take control of its power, already the game is being pushed to the limit.

Other games with show the 360's power is PGR, by no means is it running at 60fps lock but its runs at a perfectly smooth 30fps with over 900,000 -1.3million polygons on screen at once, (car= 80,000-110,000 polygons , something like 45interior 45 exterior) and plus you got those huge textures and damage models being calculated in the background.

actually, having more disk space enables the developers to put on higher resolution textures. leading to better realism, and probably better graphics overall.
anyway i'm for the ps3 but nothing is stopping me form getting a 360, to go beside it

higher resolution textures dontmean crap when you dont got enough power to use them (most games dont use textures for scenery anymore btw, mainly modelled detail, textures are just used for colouring heh)

ye and i'm guessing the options such as the one in the picture below are useless then. These are from F.E.A.R, by the way is an excellent game. and yes my computer can handle everything on high.
take an example then.... a wall. that will not have a high detail model as its flat. rather it will have a very large texture which can be a couple of meg. + the high res bump maps and other shaders etc. to make a very good looking wall.
i'm expecting the next gen games to look like this FEAR game. maybe slightly better.

though you are using reasolution which i low as 1024x768? (can you run it with 1280x1024 or higher)

ye i can run it in a higher res. i only kept it in lower res because i play online
this is the highest res. (it only allows the ratio 4:3 because my monitor is not wide screen)
this is an in game pic. (it ran perfect by the way)

just to add. the xbox 360 is really good. played it a few times, had a few games on PGR3. pretty good game. don't know much bout the other games though.

hey , nice screens, but the cut scene are rendered on a comp so that doesnt prove anything but the ingame still looks perfect (i too have played it on somewhat high settings)

I wish they were The intro is shown the same way as the game itself.. If you want proof, I'll make a vid of how that intro runs crawls here..
