Game controllers and Steering wheels

Well, its about time i bought one and i still cant make up my mind. I dont want to settle for a cheap peice of junk thats not gonna work and i dont want to bust out 500 for a decent wheel. (im canadian so prices are in CAN obviously)

and ... well i notice alot of the member here play need for speed and gtr and and a whole bunch ofother racing games, i myself play gtr alot and with my flight joystick it is fun, but i want a steering wheel with pedals to fully enjoy the simulation of the game.

I still have yet to come across a decent steering wheel that comes with pedals and a gear shifter for less than 500, let along a gear shifter that has an actual shift block (not just up or down).

If someone says you pay for what you get i will slap them

Re: Game controllers and Steering wheels

i play GTR too and right now i'm using a gamepad. well it's not really a good solution, because the steering inaccuracy is incredible* :x so i want to lend a steering wheel from my friend and see if it works properly (from Logitech) when i have it and have tested it i will post in here again

i'm also interested in etting my own steering wheel, so if some1 has some feedback on his steering wheel it would be gladly appreciated.

cya Silent

Edit OT

for the last couple of days i had problems reaching this forum and the smcars page. it seems like it's random if i can load the page or not... does anyone have similar probs?

Re: Game controllers and Steering wheels

If you really want a shifter and three pedals, I can't help you (I've been looking everywhere to get one :? ), but I'm using a Sidewinder FF myself, and I'm very pleased with it Especially with the schemes, which you can set up game-specific.

Good luck with finding one, and if you do, let me know

Re: Game controllers and Steering wheels

I run 3 pedals system and love it I have alot invested in mine though, 1300$ US

http://ecci6000.com/6000_combo_01.htm

is exactly what i got (the 6000 gts with the high-def , exptra buittons and all the other goodies they offer)

also search google for thomas super wheel, I had there top of the line before this one and it was a solid piece (this ecci is in a class of its own though TBH)

Re: Game controllers and Steering wheels

a whole year of eating TOP RAMEN got me mine :-)

I run alot of gtl, gtr, rfactor leagues and stuff , like a job almost so it was worth the investment for me, after breeaking several plastic wheels it was time for a permanent solution that wasnt a toy.

the ecci has 0 plastic

IT IS SWEET LOL

Cheap, and works good enough (nothing like a real car though )...
Now you need a shifter

Re: Game controllers and Steering wheels

Hehe, you're not alone
It's great to be able to cluth manually, let it be a joystick or a 3rd pedal, I don't care

Btw, perhaps contact discocandy, he was working on his own 3rd pedal and shifter a while ago, I think

so you use that PS2 controller to PC controller converter thing? or you only play racing games on the ps2 instead of the pc?

if you use the converter, how's it work? is it pretty flawless?

Re: Game controllers and Steering wheels

i'm using my thrustmaster ga(y)mepad and oh cool! now the stick is sort of brocken and when i'm driving i am slightly steering to the left. i can hardly drive straight anymore. imagine the horror in GTR :x :x when i'm driving 200 km/h i have to keep my car straight on the track and it always drifts to the left.

damn i need that steering wheel
