well, I think the most important thing is to finely adjust your NOS and gearbox settings... making you able to use Nos at almost any straith during the 3 laps... so not set up as max power, but more to duration... once you see that you have a bit of Nos left at the end turn it back up a bit... another important thing is downforce, choose carefully between grip and speed... a high wing will slow you down hard at the straith, and finally probably THE most important thing; the gearbox... I setted mine up so that at the end of the straith I'm almost in the red area of the final gear... then I adjust the lower gears according to the corners... I always try to get a setting that allows me to take every corner in about one gear, so that I don't waste time with shifting...

Maybe a nice final tip... use your engine to brake hard at the hairpin. When shifting back don't wait till you rpm drops again... shift right back to second and let it roar in the red zone, it will reduce your speed enormously, giving me atleast 50m of late braking.

lol about your final tip, normally your engine would blow up, but i guess GT4 handles this differently

i think, that nos is very good set as default
do you know, how to set up suspension? there are many things to adjust
uff, i was never thinking about using my engine as a brake, cause im always using AT

well I can try to give a nice explanation of the suspension... but I'll need to type it out first, but it shouldn't be to hard... also by reading some of the text that scrolls by at the bottom of your screen you can get a rather good picture of how that stuff works... but like I said I'll try to make a little "tutorial" for setting up an suspension... but keep in mind that everything should be adjusted to your preference... I like a hard springrate, low ride height, medium dampers... ofcourse this differs from track to track.. for example on the Nurburgring I reallly don't wanna have hard springs and a low ride height

@Silent][Moebius: yeah lol it probably would... 250km/h in second gear, ouch lol... racing pilot do use that technique but ofcourse they wait untill the rpm is low enough again.

after 100ms at apricot hill, im at 4.02, that is my best time ever
but it is far away from 3.55, am i missing something?
i have soft sport tire aquiped, and 677 hp under the hood, nos and icrease rigidity aquiped
i set the some settings, but im still 7 seconds behind darth carth, what is wrong?
im racing without any mistakes and in mostly in best racing lines
my times are around 1,26 at first lap and on the others i have around 1, 17 sec.

revelli i would recomment you shut off you AT, because it reduces stopping speed, because the electronics are looking for max traction and of course you want that, but when you brake yourself i assume you can have more stopping power. (i don't know how the physics in GT4 work but from my experiences with GTR i can brake later without AT and still have a good cornering speed)

the last time i played GT4 without any elctronic aids, it seemed rather easy with the 500 HP BMW M3 on the Nordschleife. but of course this varies from car to car.

maybe your times are also a result of lack of training. you could try and start racing 50 laps a day, it sounds like much but when you combine this training with trying to find the optimum setup with your car it can be less boring.

also look at the topography of your track. is it a really fast track with fast bends and long straights (maybe like Le Mans) or is it a short track with slow bends (i don't have a good example here )? when you look at the topography of the track in that way it can help you to set up your gearbox too. like darth carth said in his first post on this page, setup your last gear to the longest straight (highest speed) and your first gear to the slowest corner (lowest speed).

about setting up your suspension. very low ride height means slow top speed due to the large downforce on your car, same goes with your wing. you always have to look for a compromise when setting up your car. you shouldn't go to extremes. also you could analyse your own driving style. if you like a fast top speed, setup your wing so that you can have a fast top speed, but you will have to brake earlier before you go into a bend. ect. ect. i hope darth can help you more on this issue

well the aids can help you, I just did a 3'56.622, with some driving aids turned on, or atleast setted up.

Here is a (very bad) picture of my time... I'm very sorry for the low quality but these were taken with a crappy $2 digital camera, my good one is still broken
anyway it's bad quality but you can still see a bit of the time...
well anyway these is my entry, because this was about as fast as I got out of it... (I lost the previous settings because I didn't save them), I went from side to side of the track really pushing it (even went a little TO far on the last corner before the straith ) anyway... I'm gonna take some pictures of my run later so you can see where my racingline is (I tend to use a slitly different one, then the default one) and also where I went to extremes

I'm also working on that "guide" for the suspension and I should be able to post it here today.. I hope
@Silent][Moebius: two nice examples of extremes in GT4 are the Test track and the Autumn Ring Mini

I did a run yesterday with the Xanavi aswell... and this car could get me under 3'55 , I did two runs, certainly not perfect ones, and already had a time equal to my best time so far. So I'm really gonna go for the 3'55...

and yeah this is why I don't like the careermode to do these races, you gotta buy the cars and with the stupid saving system that GT4 has, it can cost you alot of money. I don't really have a moneyproblem, because I'm somewhere around 15.000.000 credits.
But if you want to earn easy money, do the DTM races again and again... you get 35.000 credits for winning (and they are easy, you can even do them in B-spec) and a car that is worth 900.000 credits... so do that two times and you got yourself a JGTC car

wow, you are better driver than me, you are 4sec faster...
what are you settiíngs? i have springs and ride height set to lower valius and raised the 6th gear just a lil bit up, so a can go on the big straight more than 305kmh
are you using soft sport tires too?
yea, that saving system is very stupid, you dont have the choice to see, if you can buy for you car a turbo or engine tuning and then save...
and what are your times for each lap? and maybe your t1,2,3 times?

well times for each lap:
1'24
1'17
1'14

as you can see I did a serious mistake in the sencond lap... I pushed the car a little to much at the last corner and went off the track, driving over the grass for a couple of meters...
and yes I'm using soft sport tires. I also top out around 305-310 at the straith
and I don't know if I'm better then you, I guess I just got some experience on this track... and know alot about the settings:roll:

EDIT and here are the pictures of the race with the supra

hmmm well, I don't really mind more people entering, but I'm not the boss of this event. As far as I know no one is bos
anyway I'd say let the majority decide...

I wouldn't mind...
